Fort Lauderdale- Three Spirit Airlines passengers were injured Sunday soon after the plane landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Two people were hospitalized as a result of their injuries, BSO said in a statement.

Flight No. 946 landed at 5:15 p.m. and reports of smoke in the cabin led crews to deploy the inflatable chute to evacuate passengers, BSO said.

One passenger reported a back injury, another an ankle injury and the third passenger had abrasions.

Other passengers onboard described the terrifying moments when the crew told them they would have to use the emergency exits.

“He started yelling, ‘go to the back of the plane,’ ” said Matthew Blouin.

Another passenger also expressed fear.

“I was ready to scream,” said Nancy Ortiz.

Broward Sheriff Rescue’s Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting unit inspected the aircraft soon after the passengers were evacuated and cleared the scene saying no smoke or source was identified.
