Adventurous Activities in Lanzarote
Lanzarote has long been a firm favourite with British holidaymakers for a number of reasons. With frequent and cheap flights to Lanzarote from popular tour operators like Thomson, warm climates (Lanzarote stays warm from March to November) and plenty to do it is likely to stay that way. It is also a great destination for those not content to lie on a beach all day, with plenty of sports and trips you can take part in, ensuring you will never be bored. To help you shift through the hundreds of activities available, here is a selection of our favourites.
1. Surfing and Windsurfing
For an island so close to the Sahara you could easily think Lanzarote is much warmer than it is. While it does enjoy good temperatures all year round it is very windy (A popular resort on the island, Costa Teguise is actually nicknamed ‘Breezy Teguise-y, with good reason). However, it does make the conditions for surfing or windsurfing ideal, so why not try something new today and get out on the fantastic waves Lanzarote has to offer?
Where else can you go on holiday and explore a volcanic landscape? With such an interesting and diverse landscape Lanzarote is perfect for any active holidaymakers who can benefit from some stunning walks and hikes. You can either follow a guided tour, or if crowds aren’t your thing, head off solo and see everything Lanzarote has to offer, with terrain like no other.
3. Camel Rides
Taking influence from its neighbours in the desert camel rides are a popular activity and if you are looking for a unique experience on holiday then this one is for you. Timanfaya National Park is a travellers favourite for exploring by camel, the views you get are spectacular and being astride a camel as it stands up is not an experience you will ever forget!
4. Go Karting
One for all the family now, if the kids ever get bored of lying by the beach then this is a great option to keep everyone entertained. With interesting tracks in Lanzarote’s diverse landscape and a range of different karts, ones with back seats so smaller children can still come along for the ride and faster karts for thrill seekers, it is easy to see why it is quickly becoming one of the most popular attractions Lanzarote has to offer.
These are just some of the activities that may attract the more sporty or athletic of traveller, as well as options to make sure all of the family are enjoying the sun and staying active while doing it.
